Spring has sprung with a “Tiger Roar” here – special thanks to our alumni and donors for your continuing support and generosity!
On February 24, we dedicated our new Plant Sciences Learning Lab and named it after Henry Kirklin, who is the first African-American to teach at the University of Missouri. We are proud to recognize his work by naming the Henry Kirklin Plant Sciences Learning Lab in his honor, and by creating a scholarship in his name that will support aspiring plant scientists in CAFNR who come from underrepresented minority groups. Thanks to those who were able to join us virtually at the event. If you missed it, keep reading to learn more about Mr. Kirklin and his legacy.
The CAFNR Alumni Association continued a long history of supporting CAFNR students when they hosted “CAFNR Unlimited: Reimagined” on Saturday, February 27. The virtual event surpassed their fundraising goal and was great fun – thanks to all! (Keep reading for more updates on this year’s Unlimited!)
Finally, thanks to all for your support of CAFNR on Mizzou Giving Day, March 10-11. I am delighted that many in the CAFNR family support our college and our students with outstanding opportunities – the Kirklin Memorial Scholarship, CAFNR Unlimited and Giving Day are just a few of the ways you have proven this over the past few months.
Be well, and enjoy the arrival of spring!
