My husband and I are both Mizzou alums and our favorite "dates" have been fall Saturdays tailgating with our friends before a Mizzou football game. When we got engaged, it was clear what the theme for our wedding would be: black and gold.

We started thinking of ways to add touches of Mizzou to our wedding, including sending our organist the sheet music for the fight song so that it could be played as we exited the church. With majority of our friends being Mizzou grads as well they were thrilled with the idea of feeling as if they were back in CoMO when they attended our wedding.

One of our friends decided to even bring a touch of gameday to our wedding and surprised us with a huge Gary Pinkel head that she lifted in the air after we were pronounced husband and wife. Gary made his way to the reception where he soon became the guest of honor and member of the band. We had such a great time celebrating with our friends and family, and Gary Pinkel

Married May 21, 2011

On May 22, 2007, we were individually invited to attend our first Mizzou Alumni Association Greater Ozarks Chapter meeting.  Both being relatively new to the Springfield area, we each felt the alumni association was a great way to get involved in the community and meet others from the area.

As I arrived at the meeting, which was held in the Community Room attached to the Springfield, Mo police station, Eric caught my eye.  He was introducing himself to others at the meeting, so I took the opportunity to set my purse in a seat next to where it appeared he had been sitting.  Shortly after introducing ourselves, we figured out we actually worked for the same company.  As it turned out, we were at Mizzou during the same period of time, knew people in common and even frequented some of the same spots.

A few years later, on May 7, 2010, Eric planned a wonderful evening for the two of us.  He hired a limo to take us to a few memorable stops in Springfield, including a local bar we often go to watch sporting events, one of my favorite restaurants for dinner, past a few of our date spots and then to the Springfield police station.  He proposed in the same place we meet during the Chapter meeting a few years before.

When it came time to plan our wedding, we considered various places to have our wedding.  We both felt Columbia, Mo would be the perfect place, since Mizzou brought us together.

Four years later, on May 21, 2011, we wed in quaint Catholic church in Columbia, with our reception following at the Reynolds Alumni Center.  We carried out the Mizzou theme with black and gold as our wedding colors, we took pictures all over campus, used MU landmarks as names for the guest tables and played the fight song when announcing the wedding party at the reception.

We will continue to be committed to Mizzou through our involvement in the local chapter, involvement on the alumni association finance committee, football season ticket holders and donations to the University and Alumni Association.

I graduated from MU in 2009 and so did my husband.  We just got married a couple weeks ago and I had our photographer take a picture that I thought might look cool on the website.  We got married in Topeka, a little too close to Lawrence, but managed to have a great wedding all the same.  When we made our entrance into the reception we came in to the fight song and threw black and gold beads to our guests! Our grooms cake also looked like the MU football field with an MU football player figurine on it.
