Second Annual Bus Entsminger Golf Classic Another Great Success
The Second Annual Bus Entsminger Golf Classic took place Friday, June 26, 2009 at A.L. Gustin Golf Course. The tournament to honor Entsminger (former vice chancellor of alumni and stand-out quarterback under Don Faurot in the late '40s) was organized and hosted by the surviving members of the Entsminger family with the full support of the Mizzou Alumni Association and Mid-Missouri Alzheimer’s Association. Entsminger passed away on June 30, 2007 due to complications with Alzheimer’s disease.
The second-year event was a tremendous success as roughly 72 golfers comprising 18 teams showed up for the 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. Participants ranged from casual golf fans, to former colleagues of Entsminger, to surviving family and friends. The common goal of the day was to celebrate Entsminger and all of his contributions to the University of Missouri and Columbia community. Proceeds from the tournament went to the Mid-Missouri Alzheimer’s Association and the Guy H. “Bus” Entsminger Scholarship endowment in the Mizzou Alumni Association.
With the wonderful turnout and support for this event, the Third Annual Bus Entsminger Golf Classic has already been scheduled for Friday, June 25, 2010 at A.L. Gustin Golf Course.
