The Mizzou Alumni Association hosts many events for students each year. Tiger Walk is held each August to welcome incoming freshmen and Senior Send-Off congratulates graduating students each May.
The association also offers many opportunities throughout the year for students to participate in events sponsored by or supported by the association. By involving students as "alumni in residence," the alumni association helps lay the foundation for maintaining lifelong connections to the University.
Alumni Association Student Board (AASB)
The Student Board is a diverse, enthusiastic group of 70 students whose primary objective is to strengthen the University through student-alumni relationships. AASB members attend alumni events, conduct an annual membership drive, help coordinate events for student members of the association and provide the perspective of "alumni in residence." Members are chosen every winter semester through an application and interview process.
Alumni Scholars Program
To help top-quality students attend MU, the association awards over $441,000 in scholarships each year. In addition to scholarships provided by local alumni chapters and school/college alumni organizations, we award scholarships to outstanding incoming and current students who demonstrate a passion for Mizzou. Our alumni scholars includes recipients of our Legacy Scholarship program, which provides scholarships to students with at least one generation of Mizzou alumni in their family.
Homecoming Steering Committee
The steering committee is a group of talented and dedicated students who annually organize the greatest Homecoming in the nation. Selection is conducted in the winter semester and is highly-competitive. Approximately 30 students are selected each year to comprise the Homecoming Steering Committee, with three directors selected from the previous year's committee membership. The board is further divided into committees that oversee all aspects of the Homecoming celebration: Blood Drive Committee coordinates one of the world's largest blood drives.
Held every May at the Reynolds Alumni Center, it is the official celebration for new graduates. This free event is sponsored by the alumni association and coordinated by the Alumni Association Student Board (AASB). The event includes music, drinks and food.
True Tiger Network
Current students are invited to join the alumni association at half the regular annual dues. As association members, they receive all of the membership benefits that alumni members enjoy, including invitations to local chapter and school/college organization activities, to get a head start on networking opportunities. Learn more about the True Tiger Network.
Tiger Walk is the official entry into the University for all incoming students. Held the night before the start of classes, new students gather on the north side of the Columns on Francis Quadrangle to hear a welcome by the alumni association president and key campus administrators. The students then walk through the Columns toward Jesse Hall to symbolize their entry into the University. The students are then served Tiger Stripe ice cream by faculty and staff while the band plays the songs of Mizzou. Upon graduation, these students will walk back through the Columns, towards downtown Columbia, to symbolize their entrance into the "real world."
